I have been teaching elementary school for 21 years! I began teaching 2nd and 4th grades in 1992 at Lincoln Elementary, an inner-city school in York, Pennsylvania. Then, I moved to Las Vegas and spent the next 6 years teaching 4th grade at a very nice private school, Las Vegas Day School. I made the switch back to public education and taught kindergarten in a suburban school called Keith and Karen Hayes Elementary. I transferred to a brand new school in 2007 called Robert L. Forbuss Elementary School to continue teaching kindergarten. Last year I switched to rural education. I am currently teaching a second and third grade combination class in the rural community of Blue Diamond, NV. My grade assignment is flexible from year to year depending on the enrollment for the school. We are very much like a one room school house only with 3 rooms.
MY TEACHING STYLE
I like to use teachable moments. I plan the day and lessons carefully. However I am open to making adjustments as needed. I teach children not lessons.
HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT
I have been recognized many times by peers and supervisors for various school and districtwide awards through the years including the Cattleman's Association for teacher of the year candidate.
